Excellent replacement American Flyer reverse unit fingers.
These "reverse fingers" for American, Flyer model train, reverse units are just the ones you need should your steam or diesel engine need to have them replaced. They fit right in where the old ones are removed. Highly recommended!
These fingers are made stronger than the ones that were on my American Flyer engine 315 which were made 70 years ago! I highly recommend all American Flyer surgeons to install these fingers instead of the old thin ones! Your engine will run faster smoother than ever!!!
A little thicker than original but that just means they will last longer. Make sure to prefit the fingers sometimes they might be a hair long, not because the fingers are bad but the 60 to 70 year old reverse unit stampings where not accurate and consistent so a little fitting is necessary. Pre solder your leads or your fingers won't have proper tension.
I learned to change my soldering technique as a soldering gun with a large tip will melt the base of this item. I got a soldering iron with a small pointed tip.
The new contact fingers with heavier guage copper fingers assure an improved electrical connection in the American Flyer GP-7 locomotive and other AF reverse units. The original contact fingers were of a lighter guage copper and bent more easily, affecting the electrical contact. Many times the unit would gradually open part of the circuit resulting in an inoperable motor, not really the fault of the motor. Once you replace the contacts, the motor runs more reliably.
