If light weight, quiet, and compatibility with common 18v power tool batteries are important to you, get one of these. All my cordless tools are Makita and I have five batteries and two chargers. I wanted a battery powered trimmer so this was a no brainer. Was able to trim/edge my whole yard with 2 batteries and I have a lot of lawn and fence line. Definitely easier than my large gas trimmer designed for clearing ditches.
This is a typical high quality product from Makita. It uses the 18v battery that is used for many other Makita tools. It is very lightweight and has several adjustments for trimming the weeds. It also has a shoulder harness that makes carrying this trimmer very easy. It has a nice self-adjusting feature for the string. I highly recommend this product.
It is a single line trimmer that is good for light grass and small weeds only in a small yard. It is not very powerful It cannot handler larger jobs. The battery will last about 20 minutes. The tilt feature is handy for edging. Quality seems good, which is typical of Makita. For small jobs only. Would not recommend for anything except light grass and or very small weeds.
This device is dramatically easier than to use than the ones with the difficult to start 2 cycle gasoline engines. It is also dramatically lighter. A lithium ion battery is enough to keep it running for long enough to finish the spots that require this type of trimming in my yard, and I have quite a few obstacles that cannot be done with a mower.
This is a nice addition to your lawn care arsenal. The battery still had a 4 bar full charge after using the weed eater for 15-20 minutes. I’ve got over an acre with plenty of trees and rocks to trim around and the Mikita was up to the job. No problem.
I have a huge set of makita tools. It’s so handy to cut the cord with this cordless weed eater. Had an electric which is a pian to use and better than a gas motor trimmer. Hate fumes, hate extension cords. It’s not heavy duty and probably wouldn’t last a month for professionals daily use but for my small yard it’s perfect.
First of all absolutely fantastic service, this is definitely a quality weed eater, well put together, very robust!! Just like all Makita products this will last for a quite a while.
