Great trimmer, but heavier than expected for battery powered
Overall we're pleased with these trimmers. Here's the breakdown: Pros: - Comes with a battery and charger. Most don't so they can hold down the price. - Battery life - Variable speed. Some of the cheaper ones are just on/off. - Shaft strength. The shaft on this trimmer comes in two pieces and it clamps together. That's super common these days, but this trimmer uses a strong bracket and three bolts, so it doesn't flex at all. Cons: - String is short. It's labeled as a 13 inch cutting surface, but the base is very wide, so the actual length of the string is maybe 3 inches. - Weight. The motor is small and strong, but with that comes weight. It feels almost as heavy as my gas powered one, but all the weight is in the motor. - Weight distribution. All the weight is in the motor which is on the end of the trimming head. No counter weight on the trigger end, so my arms get tired pretty quick.
I paid about the same price for a battery and charger alone. it did also come with a free mini skill saw but basically you're getting a good deal with the green machine and battery and charger. works great as long as the battery is charged the thing will go and go and go .great buy great price enough said .never mind the other projects in the back I'm not sure if that's the charger I already had or if it's the one that came with it but they're both basically the same thing
Works great. Lightweight. Powerful. Charger and battery included at a great price. Shaft does NOT fold once assembled like other models. The ability to collapse had no value to me and added some weight to the unit. No more gas-powered string trimmers for me...EVER!
Amazing power from only a 20 volt battery almost as powerful as a gas weed eater but with no loud noise no gas or even gas oil mixture worth every penny
Great battery, AWFUL trimmer that needs constant attention to re-string the head
I bought this trimmer after having amassed almost a dozen other DeWalt battery products. However, this trimmer is AWFUL. It's worse than my 8-year-old Black and Decker unit, which my wife and I fight over now over this DeWalt DCST925M1 trimmer. It just cannot dispense string properly. Using the $16 roll of trimmer string that DeWalt recommends, it fails to dispense the string properly. I think the problem is that the length of the string isn't permitted to be as long as it needs to be for centripetal acceleration to dispense the proper amount of string. Therefore, the string gets trapped in the spool, and you're stuck taking pauses every 30-90 seconds for several minutes to disassemble the spool, unwind the string a few inches, and release it. I've tried with small amounts of reloading, but there just is something inherently bad about how the string unrolls. After several sessions of fighting with this trimmer, my family and I had a celebratory smashing of it (with goggles) and placed it in the garbage bin. At least I can say that the 4 amp hour battery is still good. But if you don't like re-stringing the head 30 times during 40 minutes of usage, avoid this trimmer at all costs.
I own over a dozen DeWalt power tools, mostly 20VMax cordless. I’ve been shopping for a light weight, battery powered string trimmer and the DeWalt is exactly what I needed. Great deal with a charger and 4.0ah Li-Ion battery.
Using this for my lawn it works as it should. I found it a little heavy using with a bad back for awhile so I clipped a strap from my old trimmer to the holes at the pole joint to hang around my neck it help much better with handing. I think the battery lasted 30 mins. I didn't use at full speed unless needed. The line feed jammed up often for some reason.
strong cut i like, shaft size also good battery didnt last as long as i thought it would maybe 10-15min my 60 volt trimer last 2 -3 times longer all said it worth it just get more batteries
I bought this trimmer for a friend. She really likes everything about it; ease of use, power and battery life, ergonomics of the trimmer, and balance of the trimmer when using it to edge with.
