These incline/decline sets work great. A 2 degree incline is about as much incline as you would normally want to use unless you are building something like a logging camp in which you might get away with using a 4 degree incline/decline. The steeper the incline the fewer cars an engine can pull up it. Of course you could always use more than one engine to pull several cars up an incline. As far as the decline goes there is no problem in how many cars you are pulling as they are going down hill. The foam in these sets is remarkably firm. They are easy to glue down onto your base whether it be plywood or foam. And the road bed glues down onto the foam incline/decline nicely.
Using this kit makes building an incline easy as can be. Instead of scratching your head trying to figure out heights, angles, etc. ,just use the appropriate pieces in the set to get to the height that you want. Very easy to bend, curve, etc.
Doing mountain scenes with a mining layout this really enhances the realism. The gradual grade and the easy prep to mount this type of foam moves things along a lot faster. I just had heart surgery. Have not had time to mount to 16 X 38 foot layout. Can't wait to get back to myself soon!
It's a nice product but the write up said it's a 2% to go up 2". it came with 8 sections. It only took 4 sectio0ns or 1/2 the set to go up 2".. It was easy to use, bends around curves nice and i do believe its a 2% climb. But what do i do with the other 4 sections. It only cost me 18$ plus shipping, The cost and shipping could of been cut in half. I do not know what to do with the other 4 sections. I gave it only 4 stars because the set is so wasteful with left over sections.
The 2 percent incline/decline takes all the frustration out of putting a grade on your layout. It's very easy to install and work with your terrain. I am quite pleased with quality and how easy it is to use. Thanks Woodland Scenics.
Another quality product from Woodland Scenics. This is used under the track to elevate it from the wood underbase. Thus allowing you to model valleys and ravines,
For model railroaders, elevating the track properly has always been a challenge. The inclines were either to steep, or not steep enough. These graduated inclines, in 4 foot bendable sections, make it easier than ever.
